REMEMBERING OUR WONDERFUL FURRKIDS

cat eyes
Keep Me In Your Heart
Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath
Keep me in your heart for awhile
If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for awhile
Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.
~~Anatole France

Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you..
I loved you so-
'twas Heaven here with you.

The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together

Gizmo's Obituary

ABOUT Gizmo and his Special Needs

GIZMO - 2002

GIZMO was bred as a  California Spangled domestic cat. We suspect he was born with a defect known as  water on the brain.

He was destined to be euthanized but was rescued by a teenage friend of our son. She convinced the Veterinarian that she was working for to spare  his life. The Doctor neutered GIZMO ( at too young an age, in my opinion ) and then did a quick surgery to fix his "water on the brain".  His prognosis was that he may not live a long life and would have physical difficulties and learning disabilities.

GIZMO's only physical difficulties was that he did not have the normal quick reactive reflexes that most cats have.  He was not quick to track "play attacks" from other cats. As such, we always had to monitor play behaviour between him and the other cats so that  GIZMO would not be injured. TOKER was his best playmate and would literally play with GIZMO with one(1) paw. TOKER seemed to sense GIZMO's disability  and was always gentle with him. GIZMO tended to display "autistic" type qualities. He was deliberate in his playtime and would have delayed responses  to things like fetching toys. On occasion he would chase his tail and get himself into a circle frenzy. But, overall, he learned how to be a cat from  those cats around him. If he had been left in isolation then it is certain he would have been more emotionally damaged. GIZMO had a good life nonetheless.

He was indeed a SPECIAL CAT that will always be remembered and loved.
